Macadamia

Only two species are commercially important because they are the only ones with edible nuts: Macadamia integrifolia and Macadamia tetraphylla. Nuts other species are poisonous (eg whelanii and Macadamia Macadamia ternifolia). The toxicity is due to the presence of glycosides. These glycosides can be removed by processes known to the natives.
