The word oil (from the Arabic az-zait, olive juice, and it's zayta Aramaic) is a generic to designate many different origins fatty liquids that do not dissolve in water and have lower density than this terminal. It is synonymous with oil (Latin oleum), but this term is used for the sacraments of the Catholic Church and in the art of painting only. Originally it designated to olive oil, but the word has been generalized to denominate vegetable, animal or mineral.
